Who Are We?
The Booster organization, a 501c3 non-profit entity, exists solely for the purposes of:
Encouragement, support, and promotion of the W. Charles Akins High School Band, including but not limited to:
Marching Band
Concert Bands
Jazz Bands
Color Guard
Promotion, Stimulation, and maintenance of interest in the W. Charles Akins High School Band within the community;
Stimulation of fellowship and cooperation amongst the Booster membership in order to focus on the the moral and financial support of the W. Charles Akins High School Band.
The Association commits itself to cooperate with all school administration for both maintaining and building a strong band program, and for the promotion of general activities which pertain to the band in accordance with UIL guidelines for Booster Organizations.
Why Join?
There are many reasons to join, the main being to support our children and the directors who give countless hours of their time to this organization. Some other reasons that we think are great are:
To be able to influence the direction of the organization and how it lives out its mission
Just joining in a volunteer capacity is very fulfilling and fun, but even better if you step up and join into a leadership position
Building a closer relationship with other band parents and the directors (which also directly benefits your student)
Getting to know all the band students better, and being able to spend more time with your own very busy studen

If you don’t have time to donate we understand, even small monetary contributions are SO appreciated. All donations are vital to the improvement and enhancement of the Akins Eagle Band. We have multiple tiers of membership available to give every family the opportunity to join and support the band.
How can I help?
Our main purposes are to coordinate events, raise funds to supplement the activities budget the band has from the district, and support our students at events. There are many ways to help, and not all cost a lot of money or require a lot of time.
JOIN THE BOOSTERS!!
Attend monthly parent meetings. They are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6pm at Akins. You DO NOT need to be a booster member to attend. Its a great way to find out what is going on with the band and learn about the upcoming events and any help that is needed.
Sign up for our SignUp Genius so we know you are ready to help! These are used for games, concerts, and competitions. Some shifts are long but some are also only 1 hour or so, and each sign up can have different requests. There are LOTS of big and small ways to volunteer, we need all the people!!!
